Marshall cross country earns sweep at Redwood Valley Invite

REDWOOD FALLS — The Marshall boys and girls cross country team continued its strong start to the season with another first-place finish, this time taking the top spot at the Redwood Valley Invite on Thursday.

On the girls side, Marshall recorded a team score of 26 while Luverne took second (29) and Redwood Valley took third (85). Leading the way for Marshall was Bellamy Sukalski, who placed second with a time of 19:39 while Taleigha Bigler took third with a time of 19:57 and Allyson Sample took fifth with a time of 20:02. Miracle Tucker took seventh with a time of 20:11 while Anna DeGroot took ninth with a time of 20:39, Cameen McFarquhar took 12th with a time of 21:04 and Gracelyn Foster took 14th with a time of 21:44 to round out their times.

The Marshall boys team recorded a team score of 29, followed by Redwood Valley in second (38) and Luverne in third (64). Leading the way for Marshall was Owen Holmberg, who earned his first career victory with a first-place time of 16:38, while Zach Leibfried took fourth with a time of 17:16 and Josh Leibfried (17:55), Landon Wherry (18:08) and Ethan Bly (18:26) took the 7th-9th spots, respectively. Ashton Schnaser took 11th with a time of 18:35 while Daniel Olin took 12th with a time of 18:40 and Hudson Dieken took 14th with a time of 19:13 to round out their times.

Marshall will compete next on Sept. 18 against Luverne.
