Marshall boys soccer earns tie against Waseca, 2-2

WASECA — The Marshall boys soccer team earned a 2-2 tie against Waseca on Friday night.

Both goals for Marshall were scored by Eli Salisbury, who had one in each half. Salisbury scored roughly midway through the first half and then again with about two minutes left in the second half to lead the way offensively for Marshall.

Marshall’s (1-0-3) next game against Waseca on Tuesday was canceled due to Waseca moving to distance learning this Monday. Marshall will face Fairmont next Friday at 7 p.m.

YME Invite

GRANITE FALLS — Multiple area cross country teams competed in the Yellow Medicine East Invite on Thursday. On the girls side, Canby/Minneota took first with a team score of 21 while YME took second with a score of 42 and Lakeview took third with a score of 59.

Canby/Minneota took the top four spots, led by Grace Drietz’s first-place time of 19:58, followed by Claire Stoks in second (21:06), Braelyn Merritt in third (21:23) and McKenzie Ruether in fourth (22:08). Rachel Wollum took 11th with a time of 26:55 while Isabel Thompson took 19th with a time of 32:24 to round out their times.

For YME, Kylie Knollenberg led the way with a sixth-place time of 24:26, followed by Ruby Bones in seventh (25:03), Hannah Stark in eighth (25:05) and Sanjana Pullan in ninth (26:26). Brylea Ruff-Mulligan took 12th with a time of 27:46 while Violet Anderson took 15th with a time of 31:13 and Izabella Anderson took 16th with a time of 31:51 to round out their times.

For Lakeview, Sadie Vlaminck led the way with a fifth-place time of 23:10 while Erin Meyer took 10th with a time of 26:52 and Savanna Louwagie took 13th with a time of 28:18. Faith Louwagie took 14th with a time of 28:21 while Lucee Olson took 17th with a time of 32:15 and Kaitlynn Bot took 18th with a time of 32:17 to round out their times.

On the boys side, Canby/Minneota took first with a team score of 17 while YME took second (47) and Lakeview recorded an incomplete team score. For Canby/Minneota, Blake Stoks led the way with a first-place time of 18:25 while Kolton Duis took third with a time of 18:40, Zach Ourada took fourth (19:57) and Blake Giese took fifth (20:05). Colton Ruether took eighth with a time of 21:00 while Nicolas Full took ninth with a time of 21:19, Isaac Bach took 10th with a time of 21:41 and Joseph Wollum took 12th with a time of 22:23 to round out their times.

For YME, Tyler Syring led the way with a sixth-place time of 20:23 while Ean Clarke took 11th with a time of 21:49, Caleb Jans took 14th (22:39), Luis Guzman took 15th (22:58) and Silas Ramirez took 16th (23:18) to round out their times.

For Lakeview, Ethan Schwankl led the way with a second-place time of 18:39 while Cole Arends took seventh with a time of 20:34 and Cole Remiger took 13th with a time of 22:25 to round out their times.

Wabasso Invite

SANBORN — A couple of area cross country teams competed in the Wabasso Invite on Thursday. On the girls side, Wabasso took second with a team score of 49 while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton took third with a score of 55. Springfield/Cedar Mountain took first with a score of 25.

For Wabasso, Sarah Franta led the way with a fifth-place time of 14:05.1, followed by Halle Huhnerkoch (14:21) and Madeline Hanna (15:00) in sixth and seventh, respectively. Natasha Doubler took 16th with a time of 16:47, while Allison Parker (16:48) took 17th, Mataya Nelson (17:08) took 18th and Lonnah Maasch (17:29) took 19th to round out their times.

For TMB, Jordan Munson led the way with a fourth-place time of 14:05 while Annaka Hook placed ninth with a time of 15:24 and Madison Timmerman took 10th with a time of 15:39. Lauren Verlinde took 13th with a time of 15:49 while Grace Hanson took 20th with a time of 18:13 and Caitlyn Devereaux took 21st with a time of 18:53 to round out their times.

On the boys side, Springfield/Cedar Mountain took first with a score of 24, followed by TMB in second (47) and Wabasso in third (55). For TMB, Tyler Arnold led the way with a fourth-place time of 12:54 while Nathan Fultz took eighth (13:36), Gabe Struchen took ninth (13:38) and Trayton Radke took 10th (13:40). Gage Struchen took 16th with a time of 14:29 while Cade Swenhaugen took 19th (14:55), Carter Sweetman took 20th (15:07) and Jayden Torgeson took 21st (15:08) to round out their times.

For Wabasso, Adryen Tietz led the way with a fifth-place time of 13:03 while Joe Liebl took seventh with a time of 13:33 and Nicholas Irlbeck took 11th with a time of 13:41. Tyler Bliss took 15th with a time of 14:03, Aidan Kampsen took 17th (14:32), Alex Schmiesing took 22nd (15:11) and Jacob Doyle took 23rd (15:29) to round out their times.

Both races were two miles.
