Marshall 18U splits doubleheader against Mankato East

EAGLE LAKE — The Marshall 18U baseball team split a doubleheader against Mankato East on Tuesday. Marshall fell in game one 12-2 in six innings before winning game two 9-4.

In the opener, Matt Hmielewski led the way for Marshall with a 2 for 3 day at the plate with an RBI while Chase Douglas added a hit and an RBI and Jordan Mernaugh and Cole Felcyn each had a hit.

Jack Bly took the loss on the mound, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing seven runs on 10 hits and struck out four.

In the nightcap, Mernaugh led the way for Marshall with a 2 for 3 day at the plate with two RBI while Bly added a hit and two RBI and Peyton Grant and Benson Kuecker each had a hit and an RBI.

Felcyn earned the victory on the mound, going six innings while allowing four runs on nine hits and stuck out one.

Marshall 18U will face Springfield today in a doubleheader at 5/7 p.m.
