NCAA ATHLETICS: NCAA cancels championships

MARSHALL – NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships announced on Thursday. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

SMSU had two student-athletes set to compete at NCAA Championship meets on Friday. Mustang wrestler Jackson Ryan qualified for the NCAA wrestling championships in Sioux Falls, S.D., while Rebecca Manteuffel was set to compete at the NCAA indoor track & field championships in Birmingham, Ala.
