YOUTH BOYS HOCKEY: MAHA Pee Wee B ends regular season with win

SPIRIT LAKE, IA — The Marshall Amateur Hockey Association Pee Wee B team traveled to Spirit Lake (IA) on Saturday to wrap up the regular season against Lakes Area, coming away with a 5-4 victory.

The Tigers struck first when Selby Anderson found Treyton Roberts in front of the net at 11:34. Two goals in the final minute of the first period gave Lakes Area the 2-1 lead.

A Marshall goal from Austin Quist was waved off early in the second period, preserving the lead for Lakes Area, but Brenden Weller would tie the game when he took a Gabe Widboom pass and put it in the back of the net at 11:58 in the second. The Tigers would go on the power play later in the period and took advantage when Weller took a shot from the blue line, giving Marshall the lead at 6:28, where it would remain for the rest of the period.

In the third while on the penalty kill, the Tigers extended the lead to 4-2 when Weller went coast-to-coast for the goal and the hat trick at 8:59. Lakes Area would cut the lead back to one goal, but Xander Oey and Aidan Reinhart would connect to give Weller his fourth goal of the game at 4:42. Lakes Area was able to add one goal in the final minutes of the game, but the Tigers held on for the 5-4 victory.

Marshall will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Redwood Falls to face Luverne at 6 p.m. in the first round of the District 4 tournament.
