SMSU TRACK: Rebecca Manteuffel named NSIC Track Athlete of the Week

BURNSVILLE – Southwest Minnesota State University junior Rebecca Manteuffel has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week for her performance this past Saturday at the Minnesota State Mark Schuck Open in Mankato.

Manteuffel, a native of Cologne was the top Division II finisher and placed second overall in the weight throw with a school record and NCAA provisional toss of 18.86m. The mark ranks as the second best in the NSIC and fourth best in Division II this season. Manteuffel also finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.46m.

Manteuffel qualified for the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships last March in the weight throw and finished in 17th place. She also advanced to the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships last May in both the shot put and discus. She earned All-American honors with an eighth place finish in the discus and placed 21st in the discus.

Manteuffel is a 2017 graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School.

Southwest Minnesota State resumes competition this Saturday at the Minnesota State Nelson Classic.
