SMSU WRESTLING: TMB/WWG’s Jace Paplow signs with SMSU

MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University head wrestling coach Jesse Nelson announced on Monday that Jace Paplow from Dundee, Minn., has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and wrestling career at SMSU.

Paplow, a senior 174-pounder at Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School, has acquired many accolades in his high school career. As a junior in 2018-19, he was the Section 3A champion, placed third at the state tournament and was named to the 2019 Minnesota State Academic All-State Wrestling third team.

In his junior season, Paplow amassed 47 victories and only four losses. He had 22 wins by win in either the 182 or 195 weight-class. He placed in the Top-16 out of 45 wrestlers at the USA Wrestling Nationals, following the best season record by a junior in program history. He is currently tied for fourth in most team points in a season in program history as well as ranking seventh for most career wins in program history. He has been ranked by The Guillotine for the past three seasons and heading into his senior seasons he held a fourth-ranking at 170 and a third-ranking at 170 by FloWrestling. His career record is 137-49, including 56 wins by pin.

“We are very excited to add Jace to the Mustang family,” Nelson said. “Jace is very talented on-and-off the mat. He has high goals for athletics and academics which will align with our philosophy at SMSU.”
