SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Mustangs finish strong day at SDSU D2 Invite

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State track and field team competed in the South Dakota State University Division II Invite on Friday and finished with two school records.

Kayla Jansky broke the school record in the 1,000 meter race with a time of 3:08.74 and Rebecca Manteuffel broke the school record in the weight throw with a toss of 18.61m.

The Mustangs also recorded several finishers as Isatu Shirek finished in second place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.26., Manteuffel finished second in weight throw with her 18.61m mark and sixth in the shot put at 13.00m, and Connor Wigand finished second in the shot put with a mark of 15.24m.

Southwest Minnesota State will compete at the Minnesota State Shuck Multi & Open next Friday and Saturday with competition starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.
