SMSU MEN’S BASKETBALL: Former Mustang Ryan Bruggeman continues professional career in Spain
MARSHALL — Former Southwest Minnesota State University men’s basketball standout Ryan Bruggeman recently signed with Delteco Gipuzkoa BC in the Spain Basketball League continuing his professional basketball career.
Delteco Gipuzkoa, located in San Sebastian, Spain, plays in the second tier league in the Spain Basketball League.
Bruggeman most recently played for HKK Zrinjski HT Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 11 games, Bruggeman averaged 10.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. In his last game for Zrinjski on Dec. 29, 2019, Bruggeman scored seven points on 3 of 3 shooting in 16 minutes of action.
Bruggeman, a third team All-American selection following last season, averaged a school record 26.6 points per game with a school single-season record 851 points in 32 games during the 2018-19 season. He shot 50.5 percent from the field with a school record 308 field goals made and also set a school record with 190 free throws made. He also led the team in assists (178) and steals (73).
Bruggeman concluded his career holding numerous program career records, including points (2,246), field goals made (774), field goals attempted (1,574), free throws made (575), free throws attempted (669), free throw percentage (85.9), assists (688), steals (229) and tied for games played (128).
