PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall rolls past Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON — A balanced scoring affair helped the Marshall boys basketball team to a 70-38 win over Hutchinson on Thursday night.

Four players scored in double digits for the Tigers. Noah Puetz led Marshall with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Bryce Lance and Josh Baker added 13 points apiece in the win, while Matt Hmielewski finished with 11 points and three assists.

Marshall (15-1) will travel to Redwood Valley on Tuesday.

SLEEPY EYE — Tied at halftime and tied at the end of regulation, Thursday night’s contest between Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s needed extra time to determine a winner.

TMB had the advantage, defeating SESM 86-81 in overtime.

Jake Tauer led the way for TMB with 23 points and 12 assists.

Trevor Larson added 21 points for the Panthers, while Tony Nelson finished with 19 points.

TMB (10-3) will host Central Minnesota Christian today.

Colby Marczak and Aaron Loe led the way for Lakeview with 14 points and eight rebounds apiece.

Parker Hoffman added 12 points in the win while Billy Errington finished with six points and seven rebounds.

Trevor Ackerman scored 18 points to lead MCC.

Lakeview (10-5) will host Dawson-Boyd today while MCC (3-12) will travel to Hills-Beaver Creek on Saturday.

Abby Hennen led the way for Minneota with 22 points and six steals.

Natalee Rolbiecki added 17 points and seven rebounds in the win while Abby Rost and McKenna Yost scored nine points apiece.

Minneota (17-1) will travel to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Monday.

Jordan Munson, Brooke Christian and Jadyn Lessman scored seven points apiece for TMB in the win.

Avery Bartunek led the Blackjacks with 19 points.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington gymnastics team defeated Marshall 143.525-126.075 on Thursday.

Cameen McFarquhar finished fourth in all-around with a total score of 33.850. Her night included a score of 8.400 on the balance beam.

Saphi McFarquhar won the bars event with a score of 9.000. She added a fourth-place score of 8.650 on beam.

Marshall coach Larvita McFarquhar mentioned that Saphi is still working her way back from injury.

“I’m really proud of Saphi and how she’s moving forward through injuries and not giving up,” coach McFarquhar said.

On the vault, Clara Bader registered an 8.475 while Leah Matzner finished at 8.450.

Izzy Colvin added a 5.250 on beam.

Marshall returns to action Monday in New Ulm at 6 p.m.

Wrestling

Fulda/MCC triangular

SLAYTON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove wrestling team earned a trio of wins in their quadrangular meet on Thursday. The Panthers defeated Luverne 73-3, Madelia/Truman 84-0 and Fulda/MCC 82-0.

Against Luverne, Devin Carter, Alexander Schuh, Gabe Krick, Jace Paplow, Trevor Eisfeld, Eathan Martinez and Travis Willhitte all won by forfeit while Jayden Torgeson, Blaine Petersen, Caden Johnson and Sawyer Schwartz won by a pin, Levi Ellingson won by decision and Ayden Horner won by major decision to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

Against Madelia/Truman, Carter, Ellingson, Sawyer Otto, Petersen, Schwartz, Paplow, Eisfeld, Martinez and Willhitte won by forfeit while Schuh, Torgeson, Horner, Johnson and Krick won by a pin to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

Against Fulda/MCC, Carter, Schuh, Petersen, Schwartz, Krick, Paplow, Eisfeld and Martinez all won by a pin while Torgeson, Horner, Ellingson, Otto and Willhitte won by forfeit and Johnson won by major decision to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

TMB/WWG will compete next Thursday against Quad County at 5 p.m.
