SMSU FOOTBALL: SMSU’s Daniel Davis named second team CCA Super Region 4

COMMERCE, Texas – Southwest Minnesota State University senior wide receiver Daniel Davis has been named to the 2019 Conference Commissioners Association All-Super Region 4 second team announced on Friday.

The region’s Sports Information Directors voted on the all-region teams. Davis is one of 12 NSIC players named to either the first or second team.

Super Region 4 consists of schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Davis, a 5-foot-11, 175 pound native of Tarpon Springs, Fla., is the first SMSU player to earn CCA All-Region honors since the 2015 season.

Davis finished the 2019 campaign leading the NSIC in both receptions (104) and receiving yards (1,337) for the second straight season. A two-time first team All-NSIC South honoree, Davis finished the season with a team-leading 10 touchdowns, with his receptions total ranking third in SMSU single-season history, while his receiving yards is the fourth highest in team single-season history.

Davis finished the season with seven 100-yard receiving games and in the final regular season Division II national statistics, he ranked first in receptions per game (9.5), second in receiving yards and third in receiving yards per game (121.5).
