PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall wrestling picks up trio of wins to begin season

Noah Jensen earns 75th career win in meet

NEW ULM — The No. 4-ranked Marshall Tigers wrestling team picked up three wins at the New Ulm quadrangular on Thursday.

Marshall earned a 48-24 win over Mankato West, defeated New Ulm Area 56-21 and added a 57-18 victory over Sibley East.

In the quadrangular sweep, Marshall senior Noah Jensen recorded the 75th win of his career.

The Tigers tallied six pins in the win over the Scarlets, inclding each of the first four weight classes as Brett Regnier, Dylan Louwagie, Hsa Khee Lar and Hsa Law Eh all pinned their opponents. Connor Roth and Jensen also recorded pins.

Marshall also had four pins in the 56-21 win over NUA. Hsa Khee Lar and Hsa Law Eh got their second pins of the night, while Tate Condezo, Noah Blomme, Grant Louwagie and Cole Felcyn each added pins.

Against Sibley East, the Tigers finished with seven pins. Hsa Law Eh got his third in in three bouts on the night, while Regnier, Dylan Louwagie, Condezo, Roth, Jensen and Felcyn all recorded their second pin of the quadrangular.

Marshall (3-0) will travel to St. James Area on Saturday.

Girls hockey

New Ulm 5,

Marshall 0

NEW ULM — New Ulm defeated Marshall 5-0 on Thursday.

The Eagles got out to an early 3-0 lead after one period thanks to 20 shots on goal in the period. New Ulm got another 21 shots in the second period, scoring twice.

Emma Klenken finished the game with 46 saves.

The Tigers had seven shots on goal in the loss.

Marshall (1-4-1) will travel to Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato on Saturday.

Girls basketball

LQPV 79, DB 45

DAWSON — Lac qui Parle Valley defeated Dawson-Boyd 79-45 on Thursday.

Macie Lund scored 18 points to lead LQPV to ictory.

Avery Bartunek led the Blackjacks with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Rachael Lund added seven points in the loss.

DB (0-3) travels to Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday.

Jordan Munson led a balanced scoring effort for the Panthers with 10 points and five rebounds. Jadyn Lessman added nine points while Maddi Langerock finished with eight points.

RyAnn Hansen led Canby with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

TMB (1-2) will travel to Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday while Canby (1-1) will travel to Lakeview on Tuesday.

Nathan Kuehl finished the game with a triple-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Hunter Lien added 20 points in the win, while Ethan Mischke finished with six points and seven assists.

WWG (2-0) will play at Martin County West on Saturday.
