SMSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Mustangs open conference play tonight at the University of Sioux Falls

MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s basketball team (3-0) prepares the 2019-20 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference today at NSIC South Division preseason favorite the University of Sioux Falls (2-0) with a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Stewart Center.

•SMSU is 3-0 for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

•SMSU started 2-0 at the Newman Classic in Wichita, Kan., and earned a victory versus Presentation College (S.D.) on Saturday.

•SMSU is ranked eighth in this week’s D2SIDA Central Region poll released on Tuesday.

•Each of the eight regions has six representatives from D2SIDA that coordinate the regional committee, with a regional poll that will be released every Tuesday during the regular season.

•The D2SIDA weekly rankings are independent of the official NCAA Regional Rankings that will be released towards the end of the regular season and determine the NCAA Tournament teams.

•Meleah Reinhart is 12th in the league in scoring (14.3) and leads the conference in free throw pct (93.8), Caleigh Rodning is eighth in rebounding (7.0), and Jenna Borchers ranks second in 3-point pct. (58.8).
