MOORHEAD – The No. 18 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball finished off the final weekend road series of the season with a sweep (25-12, 25-16, 25-18) over MSU Moorhead on Saturday afternoon at Nemez Fieldhouse.

Angela Young led the Mustangs with 14 kills to aid SMSU’s .357 hitting percentage with 40 team kills off 84 attempts. Alisa Bengen paced the Mustangs with 28 assists while Payton Hjerleid finished with 10 kills.

SMSU restricted MSUM to a .094 hitting percentage with 25 team kills. The Dragons were led by Teeya Doppler, who ended the match with seven kills.

The Mustangs, hot off a five set victory over Northern State the night before, opened the first set with an 8-1 lead. SMSU would able to build off the early hot-start to keep the upper-hand throughout for a 25-12 victory in the first set to go up in the match.

SMSU only led up and allowed a lead change two more times throughout the entire match to sail to the three-set victory.
