ALVA, Okla. — Southwest Minnesota State senior forward Alli Miskowiec was named to the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioners Association Women’s Soccer All-Central Region Second Team, announced on Wednesday. The first and second teams were voted on by the region’s Sports Information Directors.

This is the first time an SMSU soccer student-athlete has received an all-region award since 2015 when Miranda Cadena and Megan Kilroy were named all-region third team.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference led the Central Region with 11 selections, while the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association netted eight and the Great American Conference, seven.

Miskowiec, a native of Andover, was named first team All-NSIC last week for the second consecutive season, after earning All-NSIC third team accolades a season ago.

She led SMSU this season with 27 points, while scoring a team-high 10 goals. Miskowiec finished NSIC play ranking second in the league in points (25) and was third in shots per game (3.5). Her 10 goals in 15 league games ranked tied for second.

The 13 first-team honorees will now advance to the national ballot, and the announcement and distribution of the All-American Teams will be Dec. 11.

Minnesota State’s Jenny Vetter was honored as the D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year.

The D2 CCA encourages and promotes DII athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact DII intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA DII member colleges and universities.
