WAYNE, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Saturday at Wayne Country Club, with the men’s team placing 12th and the women’s team taking 15th.

Men

The SMSU men’s cross country team placed 12th out of 14 teams.

Logan Knutson led the Mustangs in the 8,000 meter race with a time of 29:15 to place 77th.

Clayton Hartle ran 29:25 to finish 81st, Ryan Russek placed 90th with a time of 30:00, Joey Fausel finished in 101st place with a time of 31:58, Camden Barta ran 35:37 to finish 108th, while Issac Fischer finished 112th at 37:46.

Augustana won the team title with 37 points with MSU Moorhead taking home second place with 67 points. Aaron Runge from Augustana won the individual title with a time of 25:03.

Women

The SMSU women’s cross country team finished in 15th place with 447 points.

Kayla Jansky finished as SMSU’s highest place winner in the 6,000 meter race recording a time of 24:52 to place 67th.

Emily Gillingham ran 26:53 to finish 120th, Emily Daniels placed 122nd with a time of 26:58, Skyler Jacobson crossed in 126th place with a time of 27:10, while Abby Schotter also scored for the Mustangs placing 133rd at 27:56.

Avery Lester ran 28:11 to finish in 135th, while Meghan Sullivan finished 139th with a time of 28:43.

UMary won the team title with 21 points with Augustana placing second at 37 points. Ida Narbuvoll from UMary won the individual title with a time of 20:55.
