SMSU GOLF: SMSU closes fall season with 18th place finish in Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2019-20 season on Tuesday finishing in 18th place at the 21-team Midwest Classic held at the par-70 Mules National Golf Club on the campus of the University of Central Missouri.

SMSU finished the two-day tournament with score of 98-over-par 658 following a round of 335 on Monday and today’s second round of 323.

Northeastern State (Okla.) won the team title with a score of 36-over 596, finishing eight shots ahead of second place Central Oklahoma.

SMSU junior Hannah Kohls shot a solid 6-over 76 on Tuesday and finished tied for 33rd overall at 16-over 156.

Sophomore Anneke Weg finished tied for 81st a 27-over 167 following today’s round of 12-over 82. Sophomore Anna Davison carded a 13-over 83 today and placed tied for 83rd at 28-over 168.

Freshman Courtni Frank shot a 16-over 86 today to earn a tied for 98th at 31-over 171, while freshman Sally Gallagher recorded a 12-over 82 on Tuesday to finish tied for 112th at 43-over 183.

Natalie Bohnert and Sydney Noel both played as individuals in the tournament. Bohnert shot a 30-over 100 today to finish 115th at 46-over 186, while Noel shot 29-over 99 today to place 116th at 53-over 193.

Susana Olivares from Central Oklahoma shot a 1-under 69 on Tuesday to rally and capture the individual title with a 1-over 141. She finished with a two-shot advantage over Kaylee Peterson from Northeastern State.

Southwest Minnesota State will return to competition in March of 2020 to open the spring portion of its season.
