SMSU GOLF: Mustangs shoot 335 in opening round of Midwest Classic

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team shot an opening round score of 55-over-par 335 and is currently tied for 20th at the 22-team Midwest Classic hosted the University of Central Missouri at the par 70 Mules National Golf Club.

Northeastern State (Okla.) holds a five-shot lead over Missouri Western State following a round of 15-over 295. NSU’s Nina Lee is the individual leader following a 1-under round of 69 and holds a two shot leader over three individuals.

Hannah Kohls recorded SMSU’s low-round on Monday with an 10-over 80 and is tied for 48th in the 116-player field. Anna Davison, Anneke Weg and Courtni Frank all carded rounds of 15-over 85 and are tied for 90th. Sally Gallagher was also a part of the SMSU line-up and shot a 31-over 101.

Natalie Bohnert and Sydney Noel both played as individuals with Bohnert shooting a 16-over 86, while Noel finished with a 24-over 94.

Southwest Minnesota State will open the final round today with tee times starting at 9:12 a.m.
