PREP VOLLEYBALL: Marshall’s Logan Sherman signs National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Valley City State University

MARSHALL -- With a quick scribble of the pen, Logan Sherman's next step to her athletic career was complete. The Marshall senior inked her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday morning to play volleyball at Valley City State University in Valley City, N.D., surrounded by her family, teammates and coaches.
Sherman said this day is something she's been waiting for her entire life.
"It's exciting," Sherman said. "I'm really excited to continue playing volleyball and I love it so much, so I've been waiting for this my entire life."
The past few years, Sherman has helped lead the way for the Tigers on both the court and the ice, guiding Marshall to a state tournament in hockey in 2018 and in volleyball the past two seasons, including a runner-up finish in 2018.
Sherman said what drew her to the Vikings was the campus and its hometown atmosphere as well as the competitiveness of the volleyball program.
"I really loved the campus and I think that the community really felt homey," Sherman said. "I know that coach Adam [Longmore] is really pushing that program and it's a competitive spirit in the team and I'm really excited to join that."
Sherman added her coaches and teammates have had a big impact on her and she's been blessed to have them be able to push her to get better every day.
"I've been privileged to have really great coaches and teammates," Sherman said. "They've always pushed me in practices and games and I'm excited to bring that competitiveness to my new team and continuing on into college."
Before she heads up to Valley City, Sherman still has the rest of the volleyball season as well as one more winter with the Tigers. She said she's excited to continue playing both sports and just soaking in as much as she can with her teammates.
"I'm really excited to continue the rest of the volleyball season with my team and really soak it in into hockey season," Sherman said. "It's my last year of hockey obviously, but I'm excited to spend the rest of the year with my teammates and enjoy every last bit of it."
