Madison Hinz led the way for the Sting with five kills while Alli Steffen and Jadyn Sakry each added four. Steffen led in digs with nine while Hinz led in set assists with 12.

At No. 1 singles, Emily Johnson fell to Milbank’s Halli Essington 8-4 while Cherish Hammer fell to Milbank’s Rhianna Cantine 9-8 at the No. 2 spot and Macie Sik fell to Milbank’s Hattie Muellenbach 8-1 at the No. 3 spot. At No. 4 singles, Ashley Niemeyer fell to Milbank’s Rhianna Welberg 8-5 while Tiana Rupp fell to Milbank’s Jenna Johnson 8-0 at the No. 5 spot and Kyra Kvam fell to Milbank’s Alexis Ninneman 8-1 at the No. 6 spot.

In doubles action, the team of Johnson and Hammer fell to Milbank’s Essington and Muellenbach 10-2 at the No. 1 spot while Sik and Niemeyer fell to Milbank’s Cantine and Welberg 10-7 at the No. 2 spot and Rupp and Kvam fell to Milbank’s Johnson and Ninneman 10-1 at the No. 3 spot.

NEW ULM — The Murray County Central football team defeated New Ulm Cathedral 25-8 on Friday.

Dylan Johnson led the way for the Rebels with 118 rushing yards on 20 carries and a touchdown while Blake Schmitz added 56 yards passing and a score as well as 46 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Kyler Deacon led in receiving with 56 yards on two catches.

MCC will face Sleepy Eye this Friday at 7 p.m.
