SMSU GOLF: Weg finishes tied for 11th as SMSU places sixth at Augustana Invite
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team recorded a sixth place finish at the 10-team Augustana Invite held on Saturday and Sunday at Elmwood Golf Course.
SMSU, which shot a 327 and was in fourth place following round one on Saturday, carded a score of 342 on Sunday to finish with a 93-over-par 669.
Anneke Weg led the Mustangs on Sunday with a 9-over 81 and finished the tournament tying for 11th place in the 65-player field with a 16-over 160. Hannah Kohls tied for 16th with a 17-over 161 following today’s round of 10-over 82. Anna Davison scored a 17-over 89 on Sunday and tied for 38th with a 31-over 175, while Courtni Frank rounded out SMSU’s team scoring today with an 18-over 90 for a two-day total of 33-over 177 to place tied for 42nd. Sally Gallagher was also in the line-up for SMSU and tied for 40th with a 32-over 176 after scoring a 21-over 93 on Sunday.
Natalie Bohnert played as an individual this weekend and shot rounds of 17-over 89 both days to finish tied for 44th at 34-over 178, while Sydney Noel finished at 58-over 202 to place 62nd.
The University of Sioux Falls won the team title with a 42-over 618, while USF’s Lexi Jonas captured medalist honors with a 6-over 150.
Southwest Minnesota State concludes the fall portion of its 2019-20 season next Monday and Tuesday competing at the Midwest Classic in Warrensburg, Mo.
