SMSU GOLF: Mustangs open fall season today in Bemidji
MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team opens the 2019-20 season today, competing at the two-day, 36-hole, Bemidji State Tracy Lane Memorial Tournament at Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji.
SMSU head coach Ross Webskowski-entering his 16th season- returns three letter winners including one junior and two sophomores and will welcome four true freshmen to the roster.
All seven players on the roster will compete in this week’s tournament.
Junior Hannah Kohls is the team’s top returning letter winner after finishing first last season with an 82.7 stroke average in 19 rounds including one top 10 finish. Kohls finished with a 37-over 253 to finish tied for 19th at last spring’s NSIC Championships. Her 83.3 career stroke average ranks sixth in team history.
Sophomore Anna Davison returns after ranking fourth on the squad a season ago with an 88.5 average 17 rounds while sophomore Anneke Weg also returns after averaging 90.7 in 19 rounds last season.
The BSU Tournament is one of five events SMSU will compete in this fall.
