SMSU CROSS COUNTRY: Mustangs to race in Sioux Center, Iowa, today
MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s and men’s cross country teams return to action this morning competing at the Herb Blakely Invite in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The race was originally set to be hosted by Dakota State University in Madison, S.D., but was moved to Dordt University due to heavy rainfall in Madison.
The women’s 5K race starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:30 a.m.
SMSU opened its season on Sept. 6 competing at the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, S.D. Senior Kayla Jansky was the SMSU women’s team top finisher, placing 93rd out of 306 runners in the 5K race with a time of 19:42. On the men’s side, junior Clayton Hartle finished the four-mile race with a time of 22:02 to place 181st out of 321 runners.
