PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall tennis can’t get past Montevideo in dual action
MARSHALL – The Marshall tennis team fell to Montevideo 4-3 on Saturday.
At No. 1 singles, Gionna Parsa fell to Montevideo’s Kori Douglas 6-3, 6-0 while Eden Knudson fell to Montevideo’s Emily Brace 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Lexi Moat picked up the lone singles victory for Marshall at the No. 3 spot, defeating Montevideo’s Lauren Kluver 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 while Mariah Bergjord fell to Montevideo’s Cami Myers 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 4 position.
In doubles action, the team of Kaia Christensen and Maggie Tabaka fell to Montevideo’s Kristin Dejong and Tyra Sandven 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. The Tigers then picked up two victories in the other two spots, with Regan Loft and Leah Schaefer defeating Montevideo’s Kylie Cobb and Nina Fitzkappes 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 position and Maddy Bednarek and Danielle Ewing defeating Montevideo’s Matthea Jorgenson and Lauren Dehne 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 position.
Marshall will compete next on Tuesday against Worthington at 4:30 p.m.

COTTONWOOD – With under a minute to play, the Lakeview football team lined up looking to come up with a big play as the Lakers trailed Canby by two in the fourth quarter.
Lakeview quarterback Aaron Loe found a way to do just that, scrambling to his right before unleashing a deep pass to Jackson Klocow, who then raced into the end zone for a 45-yard touchdown with 42 seconds remaining to lift the Lakers past the Lancers 17-12 on Friday night.
Loe led the way for Lakeview with 304 yards on 15 of 21 passing and two touchdowns while Klocow led the receivers with 145 yards on five catches and two scores. Parker Hoffman added 74 yards receiving while Carter Louwagie led in rushing with 37 yards on 10 carries.
Parker Viessman led the way for the Lancers with 95 yards passing on 16 of 29 and a touchdown while Ty Stoks added 85 yards on the ground and a score. Kalib Greenman led the Canby receivers with 60 yards while Tanner Drietz added 22 yards and a touchdown.
Lakeview (2-1) will face YME this Friday at 7 p.m. while Canby (2-1) will face RTR this Friday at 7 p.m.
