SMSU GOLF: SMSU honored for success in the classroom

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The 2018-19 Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team was named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Scholar Team on Thursday for having one of the top cumulative team grade point averages in NCAA Division II this past season.

SMSU finished the 2018-19 academic year with a team GPA of 3.637, ranking as the 15th highest in Division II.

Earlier this week, SMSU freshman Anneke Weg was honored by the WGCA for success in the classroom earning WGCA All-American Scholar Team accolades for maintaining a GPA over 3.50.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
