BRANDON, S.D. – The Marshall 15U Orange baseball team dropped a trio of games at the Brandon Valley tournament over the weekend, falling to Brandon Valley (S.D.) 3-2 on Saturday and TB Rays 12-11 and 5-3 on Sunday.

On Saturday against Brandon Valley, Braxton Meyer and Connor Neubeck led the way for Marshall Orange with a hit and an RBI each while Zach Allen, Preston Hoflock and Ethan Brau each added a hit.

Allen took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing one run on two hits and striking out three.

On Sunday, Marshall Orange faced TB Rays in a pair of games. In the opener, Meyer and Allen led the way for Marshall with a pair of hits and two RBI each while Jacob Eben added a hit and two RBI.

Mitch Bouwman took the loss on the mound, going 3 and 2/3 innings while allowing 11 runs on 10 hits and striking out four.

In the nightcap, Neubeck led the way for Marshall with a 1 for 1 day at the plate with an RBI while Seth Radtke added an RBI and Keaton Maertens and Brau each had a hit.

Eben took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out two.

TYLER – The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Junior Legion baseball team defeated Blue Earth 1-0 in the sub-state tournament on Sunday.

Payton Hess led the way for RTR with a 1 for 2 day at the plate with a home run and an RBI. He also earned the victory on the mound, going seven innings while allowing no runs on four hits and striking out eight.

RTR (8-4) will face Luverne today at 2:30 p.m. in the sub-state championship game in Luverne.

SACRED HEART – The Wabasso amateur baseball team fell to Raymond 13-3 in seven innings in the opening round of the Region 4C tournament on Saturday.

Sam Guetter led the way for Wabasso with a 2 for 3 day at the plate while CJ Theis added a hit and an RBI and Carter Guetter had a pair of RBI.

Kyle Lechner took the loss for Wabasso, going 3 and 2/3 innings while allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out one.

Wabasso drops to the consolation bracket and will face Willmar on Friday at 9:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart.
