SECTION 3A GOLF: One area team, four individuals qualify for state meet

WORTHINGTON - After seeing their final round postponed a couple of times, area teams and individuals were treated to sunny skies to close out the Section 3A tournament on Monday at Worthington Golf Club. State tickets were also punched, as one team and four individuals qualified for the tournament next week.

Girls

On the girls side, Murray County Central will be making a third trip to state after winning the section with a two-day total of 809. Adrian placed second with a score of 861, followed by WWG in third (903) and Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in fourth (905).

MCC junior Abby Hamman was the girls medalist with a two-day total of 163 (81-82). Ciera Tutt finished with a total of 211 (111-100) to place fifth overall for the Rebels. Vanessa Dahlgren added a 217 while Amber Boock shot a 218, Paige Behrends had a 226 and Kylie Frisk shot a 243.

Individually, Brittany Erickson of WWG finished third overall with a 204 (97-107) to qualify for the state meet.

Boys

On the boys side, HLO/Fulda won the section with a second round score of 368 for a two-day total of 732, followed by MCC in second (789), Edgerton/SWC in third (791) and Wabasso in fourth (821).

Individually, MCC will be represented by seniors Jack Pierson and Cole Ahlers. Pierson was the boys medalist with a two-day total of 165 (83-82) while Ahlers was third qualifier with a two-day total of 188 (99-89) to place sixth overall.

WWG senior Andrew Quade will be competing in his third consecutive state meet after shooting a two-day total of 183 (89-94).

The Class A Tournament is June 11-12 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
