MARSHALL — The Marshall A’s used a pair of big innings to defeat the Dawson Drakes 7-3 on Wednesday.

The A’s scored three runs in both the third and fifth innings.

Ryan VanMoer led the A’s, going 2 for 4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Jordon Kontz added a pair of hits and two RBI in the win, while Marshall also got two-hit performances from Zach Olson and Barry Meyer.

Rusty Swanson went the distance on the mound for the A’s, finishing with four strikeouts and no walks allowed.

Kalib Greenman went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored in the loss.

Marshall (7-2) will return to Corn Belt action on Sunday as they host Willmar. Dawson will play at an invitational hosted by Arlington and Gaylord this weekend, beginning with a game against St. Peter on Friday night.

MILROY — The Milroy Irish defeated Luverne 6-5 in Gopher League action on Wednesday.

Jake Plaetz went 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Irish. Anthony Dolan added a pair of hits in the win.

Kenny Morris went the distance on the mound and finished with nine strikeouts to just two walks.

The Irish (14-2) travel to Fairmont on Sunday.
