AMATEUR BASEBALL: A’s win against Yankees

MILROY –The Marshall A’s defeated the Milroy Yankees 12-7 in Corn Belt League action on Friday.

Zach Olson led the way for the A’s, going 3 for 5 with four RBI and three runs scored. He delivered a key hit in the game’s third inning with a three-run home run to give Marshall an early 9-1 advantage.

The Yankees fought their way back into the game with six runs over the third and fourth innings, but couldn’t complete the comeback. The A’s added three late insurance runs to seal the 12-7 win.

Mason Schnaible went 3 for 4 with two RBI in the win.

Olson also earned the win on the mound, throwing six innings of relief and striking out six batters.

David Schmidt and Andy Schmidt led the Yankees with three hits apiece.

Marshall (6-1, 5-0 Corn Belt) travels to Bird Island on Sunday, while the Yankees (3-7, 1-2 Corn Belt) host Heron Lake today.
