PREP TRACK: Marshall competes in True Team section meet

MARSHALL — The Marshall Tigers hosted the Section 2AA True Team meet on Tuesday.

The Marshall girls placed sixth with 445 points, while the Tigers finished seventh on the boys side with 447 points.

Luverne advanced to True Team state on the girls side with 580 points, while Jordan took the boys title with 630 points.

The Marshall girls 3,200 relay team took first place with a time of 9:46.63. The 1,600 relay team added a third-place time of 4:15.85.

Saphi McFarquhar had a third-place time of 13.45 seconds in the 100, while she also tied for fifth place in pole vault (8-0). Kaia Sueker finished fourth in the 800 at 2:23.95, while Jersey Leysen added a third-place time of 11:50.67 in the 3,200.

Emily Meier finished fifth in shot put (32-1.75).

On the boys side, Eli Salisbury won the 3,200 with a time of 9:46.75. He also finished third in the 1,600 (4:33.39), followed by Zach Matzner in fourth (4:36.07).

Quentin Blomme had a second-place time of 2:01.18 in the 800, while Matzner placed fourth (2:02.26) in the same event.

Yahya Black finished second in shot put at 48-11.75.

Josh Deines took fourth in long jump (21-3.5) and placed seventh in the 400 at 53.03 seconds. Bryce Paulsen placed sixth in the 110 hurdles at 16.39 seconds and added a fifth-place time of 41.74 seconds in the 300 hurdles.

Tyrese Janssen finished sixth in discus at 118-1.

The Tigers added fifth-place finishes in the 1,600 (3:33.59) and 3,200 (8:36.10) relays.

The True Team state meet will be held May 17-18 in Stillwater.
