NCAA VOLLEYBALL: Canby setter Cleveland signs to play volleyball at MSU Moorhead

MOORHEAD — Minnesota State University Moorhead head volleyball coach Tammy Blake announced on Tuesday the addition of two recruits for 2019. Signing with the Dragons are Katherine Cottrell of Roberts, Wis., and Morgan Cleveland of Canby.

Cottrell is a 6-foot-1 middle blocker who competed at St. Croix Central High School in Wisconsin. She was a two-time all-conference selection and led the blocks in conference. She was a team captain and four-year letterwinner in volleyball. She also lettered in basketball and softball. Cottrell plays for the Kokoro Volleyball Club.

“We’re excited to add Katherine to our program,” Blake said. “She comes from a highly reputable club program. She does a great job with both blocking and hitting. Katherine brings a strong work ethic and volleyball IQ.”

Cleveland is a 5-foot-9 setter from Canby High School. She was all-area first team and all-conference as a senior. She had 1,493 set assists in her career along with 598 digs and 244 kills. She was a four-year letterwinner and team captain. She played for the Elite Alliance Volleyball Club in Watertown, SD.

“She can play either defensive specialist or setter,” Blake said. “She has a quality club background and we look forward to watching her develop and grow in our program.”
