YOUTH HOCKEY: Marshall Bantam A hockey team closes out district play

MARSHALL – The Marshall Bantam A hockey team closed out the regular season District play with a tie and victory. On Saturday, Marshall Bantam A skated to a 2-2 tie versus New Ulm/Sleepy Eye at the Red Baron Arena. Jared Reinsma and Sam Schwarz scored the goals for the Tigers, while Lincoln Mellenthin made 15 saves in net.

On Sunday, the Tigers earned a 6-3 victory over Fairmont at the Martin County Ice Arena. Wyatt Boerboom tallied two goals and four assists for the Tigers. Talan Plante, Jared Reinsma, Braxton Meyer and Gabe Sherman each chipped in a goal and Lincoln Mellenthin made 18 saves.

The Marshall Bantam A overall record is 17-12-2. The team finishes the season with a District 4 record of 9-3-2, earning the No. 3 seed in the upcoming District 4 playoffs. The Tigers will face the No. 6 seed Windom on Friday at 6 p.m. at Redwood Area Hockey Arena. Play continues over the weekend with the top 3 teams advancing to Regions.
