YOUTH WRESTLING: Marshall youth wrestling teams hold home tournaments
MARSHALL – Marshall Tiger Wrestling hosted 24 K-3 and K-6 youth wrestling teams at the Marshall High School this past weekend. This is an annual event for the Tigers that continues to grow year over year. In prior years, the K-6 tournament has been held to eight teams. This year the tournament expanded to 12 teams for both K-3 and K-6, with a waiting list of other teams looking to enter.
Twelve K-3 teams competed on Saturday including Aberdeen (SD), Adrian, Brandon Valley (SD), Fulda/MCC, LeSeuer/Henderson, Minneota, New Ulm, Redwood River Valley, Tea Area (SD), Willmar & Worthington. The Tiger K-3 team went 2-2 on the day, placing ninth.
Twelve K-6 teams competed on Sunday including Aberdeen (SD), Adrian, Brandon Valley (SD), Fulda/MCC, LeSeuer/Henderson, Minneota, New Ulm, Pipestone, Tea Area (SD), United, & Worthington. United and Tea Area (SD) squared off in the finals, with United coming home with the 2019 Championship Trophy. The Tiger K-6 Team went 3-1 on the day losing to Aberdeen (SD) and defeating Worthington, LeSeuer/Henderson and Minneota consecutively to take home fifth place. The Tiger K-6 team is 9-2 on the season.
