SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Manteuffel sets school record in weight throw as SMSU competes in Brookings
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State University track & field teams competed on Friday at the South Dakota State D2 Classic inside the Sanford/Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Some highlights from the day include Rebecca Manteuffel notching another school record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.78m to finish second overall. Norah King recorded a mark of 15.16m to place 13th in the weight throw.
Ashlyn Jones place third in the high jump with a mark of 1.57m, while teammate Kayla Jansky ran 2:25.61 in the 800 meters to finish ninth.
For the SMSU men’s team, Quadri Busari ran 7.09 in the 60m prelims to advance to the finals where he finished third with a time of 7.02. Hever Valenzuela ran 1:25.70 in the 600 meters to place seventh.
In the field events, Connor Wigand finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 14.47m.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action next weekend, Jan. 25-26 at the Minnesota State Shuck Multi & Open in Mankato.
