SMSU CROSS COUNTRY: SMSU’s Aidrus records third place finish in Wisconsin

ETTRICK, Wis. – Bashir Aidrus ran a time of 25:14 to earn a third place finish to pace the Southwest Minnesota State men’s cross country team at the 8,000 meter Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Saturday.

The SMSU men’s team recorded a 13th place finish out of 22 teams with 366 points, while the SMSU women’s team placed 17th out of 21 teams with a total of 504 points.

Aidrus finished 18 seconds behind champion Ezekiel Kipchirchir from Iowa Central Community College.

Dylan Pierson ran 27:42 to finish in 108th, John Wyatt Reece finished 128th at 28:00, Ben Broze crossed the line at 28:14 to finish 140th, while Clayton Hartle finished 144th at 28:19.

Skyler Jacobson finished the 6,000 meter race with a 25:05 to place 114th out of 262 runner to lead the Mustang women’s team. Avery Lester had the second fasted time for SMSU crossing the line at 25:08 to finish in 117th place. Emily Daniels ran 26:02 to finish in 154th, Emily Gillingham placed 156th with a time of 26:05, while Meghan Sullivan finished 172nd with a time of 26:19.

Both Southwest Minnesota State teams will next compete at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships on Nov. 3 in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
