PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall falls to Jordan in regular season finale, 42-39
JORDAN — A last-minute drive came up just short as Marshall dropped its regular season finale to Jordan by a 42-39 score on Wednesday night.
Marshall had the ball at the 5-yard line with under 10 seconds remaining in regulation, but a fumble into the end zone by the Marshall runner was recovered by Jordan to seal the victory for the Hubmen.
It was a game that had both offenses combine for over 1,000 total yards, according to Marshall coach Terry Bahlmann.
“Both offenses dominated the game,” he said. “They were able to throw on us and we were able to run on them. Two different styles, but both were effective.”
Jordan junior quarterback finished the game with 364 yards and six touchdowns passing to lead the Hubmen offensive attack.
Bryce Paulsen ran for 264 yards and four scores in the loss, while adding 156 yards and a touchdown passing.
“Bryce took his game to another level tonight,” Bahlmann said. “He was key for us both running and throwing, and made big plays all night.”
It was the first regular season loss for the Tigers since Belle Plaine defeated Marshall 39-35 in the 2015 regular season finale.
Marshall ends its regular season with a 7-1 record and will find out its first Section 2AAAA Tournament opponent today.
