SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Bixby cards a 76, places T14 at NCAA Region Championships
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Southwest Minnesota State University senior Ashley Bixby shot a final round four-over-par 76 on Wednesday and finished in a tie for 14th place at the 54-hole, 66-player, NCAA Women’s Golf Super Region 3 Tournament played at the par-72, 6,084-yard Missouri Bluffs Golf Course.
Bixby finished the three-round championship with an 11-over 227, following rounds of 72 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday.
Bixby, a native of West Fargo, North Dakota, and playing in her first NCAA region tournament, finished Wednesday’s round recording nine pars, five bogeys, three birdies and one double bogey. She closed the championship with a total of seven birdies, 31 pars, 14 bogeys and two double bogeys.
Kali Trautman from Augustana earned medalist honors with a 1-under 215, winning the title by four shots.
Augustana (890, +26) won the 12-team championship, finishing 10 strokes ahead of Lindenwood (Mo.) (900, +36) and two strokes ahead of Arkansas Tech (902, +38).
Helle Leed from Southern Arkansas, Shi Qing Ong from Missouri Western and Olivia Sobaski from Central Missouri all qualified for the NCAA Championships as individuals.
The three teams along with the three individuals advance to the NCAA Championships on May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
