SMSU GOLF: Bixby currently in 11th place at NCAA Regional after shooting 79

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Southwest Minnesota State University’s Ashley Bixby recorded a seven-over-par 79 today and is currently tied for 11th place after two rounds of the 54-hole NCAA women’s golf Super Region 3 Tournament at the par-72, 6,084-yard Missouri Bluffs Golf Course.

After shooting an ever-par 72 during Monday’s opening round, Bixby has a two-round total of 7-over 151. She was tied for fifth following yesterday’s first 18 holes.

Bixby, a senior from West Fargo, North Dakota, and playing in her first NCAA region tournament, started on hole 10 on Tuesday and recorded 10 pars, six bogeys, one birdie and one double bogey. Through two rounds, she has recorded four birdies, 21 pars, 10 bogeys and one double bogey.

Lindenwood (Mo.) (598, +22) and Augustana (598, +22) are tied for the team lead and have a seven-shot lead over SW Oklahoma State (605, +29) and a nine-shot advantage over fourth place Northeastern State (Okla.) (607, +31) in the 12-team tournament.

Josefina Haupt from Lindenwood (Mo.) shot a 1-under 72 today and is the leader of the 66-player field with a 3-under 141. She holds a two-shot lead over Kali Trautman of Augustana.

The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each of the four Super Regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships on May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

Bixby was also named to the All-NSIC second team, the first time the senior has earned All-NSIC honors.

Bixby will begin the third and final round on Wednesday on hole 17 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
