SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Mustangs tune up for their conference championships in SDSU Last Chance Invite
BROOKINGS, S.D.- Kim Shabino earned a win in the women’s 200 meter dash at the South Dakota State Last Chance Invite for the Southwest Minnesota State men’s and women’s track & field teams on Friday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Denitsa DoBreva ran a 9.76 in her first heat in the women’s 60 meter hurdles and later broke her own school record with a 9.62.
Lauryn Ballard finished third in the women’s 200 meter dash with a final time of 26.73 while Kim Shabino won the event with a time of 25.58.
On the men’s side, Bashir Aidrus finished second in the two-mile run with a time of 4:19.34.
Carl Anderson took fifth in the men’s 200 meter with a personal best time of 23.03 while Trevor Locher also set a personal best with a time of 24.16.
Southwest Minnesota State will now look ahead to the NSIC Conference Championships in Mankato, on Feb. 23-24.
