PREP ATHLETICS: Wabasso’s Lindsey Bernardy named ‘Triple A’ award winner for Region 3A, Sub-Region 9
WABASSO – Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League to recognize high school seniors. The Region 3A, Sub-Region 9 winner for the girls is Lindsey Bernardy from Wabasso. Lindsey is the daughter of Scott and Traci Bernardy.
During Lindsey’s high school days, she has been involved in a variety of different activities: volleyball, cross country, basketball, track, band, choir, and one-act play. She has been selected as captain of the cross country, basketball and track squads, was selected to the All-Conference teams in cross country and track, and was a state participant in track as a sophomore. She has received the “Rabbit Award” in basketball. Lindsey has participated in several musicals at Wabasso and been a section leader in band.
Discipline, participation, hard work, generosity, receptiveness, and confidence are all attributes Lindsey has gained because of her vast participation. Besides being captain of athletic teams, she has shown great leadership as a student council representative since 8th grade and currently president for the second year. She is also president of both the band and choir, vice president of the local FFA chapter and a member of the National Honor Society.
Lindsey has been an exceptional role model leading by example with well-timed, heartfelt words. Her future plan is to attend college and intends to get a degree in Communications/Digital Media Arts. Wade McKittrick, Superintendent of Schools at Wabasso, presented Lindsey with a plaque, a medal, and a certificate for being the Region 3A, Sub-Region 9 girls winner during pre-game of the Rabbits girls basketball game on Tuesday.
