EAGAN – Local figure skaters performed skating tests on February 19 in Eagan toward obtaining the coveted Senior Level of Skating.

Autumn Dovre, of Minneota completed the first two tests in the U.S. Figure Skating Association’s test structure for competitive skating. Dovre passed the Pre-Preliminary Moves-in-the-Field and Free Skate tests. Leah Legatt of Marshall completed the Preliminary test in Moves-in-the-Field. Both skaters are coached by Emily Vogel.

Many are watching the best skaters compete at the Olympic level. Every skater who competes for the United States will have tested and passed a minimum of 16 tests, with many passing more, with the addition of Ice Dance and Pairs tests. It takes years of training and testing to obtain this elite level.

Southwest Figure Skating Club in Marshall is an official U.S. Figure Skating Association club that offers lessons, shows and opportunities to compete and advance in the sport of skating.
