SMSU ATHLETICS:14th Annual Mustang Gold Rush raises record amount of $80,000
MARSHALL – The 14th annual Mustang Gold Rush Raffle, sponsored by the Mustang Booster Club, was held on Feb. 3, on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University. This year’s event broke a new mark, as nearly $80,000 was raised to help fund student-athlete scholarships through the Mustang Booster Club. The past two year’s Gold Rush events eclipsed the $70,000 mark. In its 14 years, a total of $550,000 has been raised from the event – all benefiting SMSU student-athletes.
More than 350 people were in attendance with Mustang Booster Club members once again selling all 600 available tickets for the raffle.
Emily Scheffler, Holly Jo Boerboom, Jim Tate, Katelyn Tamm and Lee Raske split the $5,000 grand prize and each took home $1,000.
The SMSU athletics department and the Mustang Booster Club would like to thank everyone for their support of this great event. The date for the 15th annual Gold Rush Raffle will be Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.
