PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Sioux Falls Washington beats Marshall, 54-22
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Sioux Falls Washington got out to an early lead an Marshall couldn’t find an answer. Washington defeated Marshall 54-22.
“We got down early and we were never able to recover,” Marshall coach Dan Westby said. “They had too many baskets in the paint and we didn’t do enough to stop them.”
Offense didn’t come easy for Marshall, either. Leading the team in scoring was Hannah Meier with just six points. Kaia Sueker and Paige Andries added five points apiece for the Tigers.
Marshall (2-4) returns to action next week in the Borch’s Holiday Classic at Southwest Minnesota State. Marshall will face Jordan on Tuesday and Mankato West on Wednesday.
Westby knows there’s work to do before those games.
“We need to get back into the gym and start handling things better,” Westby said. “Right now, we’re playing too fast and we’re not in control.”
