Adult Community Center

Two big events are coming up that we would like to personally invite you to. The first event is the Hometown Heroes Walk from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Independence Park sponsored by the Marshall Area YMCA and the Adult Community Center. The event was dreamed up as a way to recognize those individuals who put their lives on the line each day for the safety of the communities they serve. We would like to take this day to recognize our local law enforcement, fire departments, military, EMT and clergy for their time. Take some time to honor our heroes in our community. These individuals on are the front lines when a disaster strikes. It is time to say thank you for your dedication and commitment. The event will kick off with the mayor and city administrator at 5:15 p.m. followed by a mile walk led by the American Legion Color Guard. There will be poster displays of drawings from the YMCA kids camps and a display from the Quilts of Valor. Top Hat Concessions will be on hand to serve up a quick bite to eat! You can register to walk the mile at: https://runsignup.com/Race/76253/Sponsor/155753

$15 walk fee until Aug. 1

$20 walk fee Aug. 2-13

$25 same day registration on Aug. 14

T-shirt* provided to all registered walkers.

*Shirts sizes guaranteed to those registered by August 1, 2019. Registration tent will open for shirt pick up at 4:30 pm.

The second event is the “Back To The Blue Moon” event at the Red Baron on Thursday, Aug. 15. The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with Dr. Lloyd Petersen presenting on the Civil War, followed by a meal (served from 11 a.m.-noon) of a hamburger, chips, bar or cookie and beverage for $7. Then Mylan Ray will be there to entertain us and provide some good dancing music from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This event is brought to you by the One Voice for Seniors group. A group of professionals serving those 55 and older in our community and region: “By promoting a healthier and engaged community for seniors through one united voice.”
