One building … so much more

The Adult Community Center is often seen as one place. Actually it is one physical building with three different and separate programs housed within its walls — each with their own purpose. So let’s take a look at each.

Adult Community Center is here to serve those 55 and best through a wide variety of programming. Our programming focuses in the areas of Living Life through: special events; connecting and learning; arts and crafts; leisure and entertainment; fitness and recreation by promoting and having quality of life through: Health and wellness; day trips and programs and technology. The Center’s programs are open to ALL — no membership required. The Center functions under the policies and procedures of the city of Marshall and is part of the Community Services Department.

MASC, Inc (Marshall Area Senior Citizens, Inc) is an organization who serves those 50 plus be providing a safe and healthy place to build relationships through fun activities and community and educational programs. MASC offer their monthly Birthday bingo membership meeting with a community speaker and a yearly membership meal for its members ONLY. MASC works closely with the Adult Community Center — giving input and volunteers for programs. The membership fee is $15 per year with the membership year running from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Their annual membership drive is held in October with a special meal for its members. MASC has their own policies, procedures and code of conduct. A membership gives members a rental discount, birthday bingo with prizes, newsletter, reduced program fess and a connection.

LSS — Senior Dining is offered at the Center from 11:30 to 12:30, Monday-Friday. The program offers a nutritious meal to ANYONE who would like one. The suggested donations for those 60 and older is $4.50 and under 60 it is $7.40. This program follows the policies and procedures of Lutheran Social Services — Senior Nutrition Program. The Adult Community Center does work with them in promoting a program and meal together.

So as you have read — one building- three organizations — each with their own focus, leadership and policies and procedures. Each brings a great value to the Marshall and surrounding communities. Each striving to enhance the lives of those 55 and best! Stop down and check us out.
