At the end of the day, do you revisit your day before falling asleep?
That nightly revisit of the day’s events is important to each of us. It allows us to feel good about some things, and for the not so good moments, the review allows us to see where or how we could improve ourselves. That revisiting gives us a chance to be a better person.
Here’s one experience that gave me the push to revisit some family history.
At a recent Family Fun event with a Halloween theme, I volunteered to help with the event’s activities. I was assigned to the Spider Race table, and we waited for the families to began arriving. Soon, the parents and their costumed children were with us.
My spider race table was an opportunity for the kids and their parents to try to blow a mini plastic spider across the table’s finish line using a straw. Using the straw, the contestants blew away to see who could claim the title of champion. Such fun. Kids against kids, kids against parents, and even parents against parents. Who knew the simple act of blowing through a straw could be so much fun. The environment was alive with laughter.
The spider race was wonderful, but the costumes were so colorful and enjoyable. The fairy visited my table along with Batman, Storm Troopers and many other characters. The event reminded me of times past when our children would put on a costumes and go out to trick or treat. A memory worth revisiting.
Currently, I am totally immersed in revisiting an old wine friend. Mark West wines have been a part of my wine list for a long time, and a bottle of the winery's cabernet sauvignon asked for my attention. Upon tasting it, I was taken back to past times when I sipped this delicious wine. It’s full bodied with lots of blackberry tastes and an amazing oaky/vanilla finish.
Looking back at my wine journal, my years ago notations about the wine were similar to my current thoughts. Why did I wait so long to revisit this delicious wine? And, by the way, the winery produces excellent chardonnays and pinot noirs. Well worth building a relationship with the wines.
I encourage you to look back on each day. Everyday is an opportunity to again enjoy the beauty of your life.
May you find pleasure in your revisiting time.
As always, eat and drink in moderation, but laugh with reckless abandon!
Cheers!
