It’s time to…

By Ron Skjong 3 min read

On a road trip to visit Lake Pepin, I was reminded of something very important.

Driving to the lake, we drove by a group of citizens demonstrating in support of our country’s democracy. The activity was a part of a nationwide movement encouraging everyone to stand up for our democracy. It got me to thinking that it’s time for me to get involved, too.

We must always recognize when it’s time for us to begin a new adventure, or to become involved in something that we are passionate about. For instance…

Why not realize it’s time to begin a new physical activity. Whether that new activity is taking a daily walk, a run or simply getting outside to sit in nature, let’s give it a try. Whatever the new activity will be, you will be rewarded by the new movements.

If you are a gamer, go for a new game to see how it fits your sense of game playing. I’m not a gamer, but perhaps it’s time to take my own advice. We’ll see how that plays out.

Hey. Is it time to try a new wine? Why not try a glass of Alamos Malbec from Argentina? The wine’s full bodied black cherry flavors will give you much enjoyment.

And talking about enjoyment, maybe it’s time to contact a family member. A recent phone call with my brother was very good. In today’s world, it’s very easy to lose touch, and then regret it at some point. Reach out.

During a conversation with a friend, I was being told how busy he was with everything in his life. Silently sitting and listening to him, I was reminded how my mantra for such moments is to take time for yourself. Whatever that means to you, make sure you always take the time to breathe deeply and note what you want to do for self fulfillment.

Maybe that self fulfillment means simply reaching for your favorite book. Of course, a sip of two of La Vielle Ferme Rosé wine doesn’t hurt at all. Perhaps the soft melon tastes of the wine will mate with the subject of your book. Take time for both…

Why not take time to sample a new food? The first time I tasted a Sambusa, I was hooked. The cone-shaped fried pastry filled with special minced meat and vegetables is delicious. I eagerly recommend it along with a glass of crisp mouth cleansing Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Grigio.

You know, whatever you do, take time to further explore the world around you. As we know, time is fleeting, and that’s why it’s time for all of us to stand up for our democratic values.

May you always take time for whatever interests you.

As always, eat and drink in moderation, but laugh with reckless abandon!

Cheers!
