As I sat waiting for a local parade to begin, it became apparent that even in the crowded heat of the day, people helped each other to be comfortable.
It was very comfortable sitting in my favorite coffee shop’s outdoor patio and watching the interaction of the folks around me. People moved closer together so others could be in the shade. They formed places for people to have a space to sit. They watched and protected the little toddlers running along the sidewalk. Even in the heat, we helped each other.
One of the events during the cities summer festival was that local organizations could set up tents in a local park. I volunteered to host one of the tents, and of course, it was a rainy day. Fortunately, the marvelous community nonprofit I was with had a tent over our site. We needed the rain desperately, and it was welcomed with sighs of pleasure. Yes, the rain was a dampener, but many families came by my tent to participate in the activities we offered. Even in the rain, it was a fantastic time.
Going back to the parade, it was very rewarding to experience a sip of kindness. A stranger sitting beside me was kind enough to ask it I wanted a free cookie that was being handed out to all parade viewers. Well duh, who wouldn’t like a free cookie? He brought me one. Even a single act of kindness to a stranger goes a long way.
You know, it’s summer time so have a few sips of your favorite beverage. During the heat of summer, I enjoy sipping a glass of Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy Weiss Bier. It’s so delicious with its lemony taste and crisp finish. Heck, even in the cold of winter, this beer is always welcome.
May you always find the light ... even in the dark.
As always, eat and drink in moderation, but laugh with reckless abandon!
Cheers!
