We must not let go

There are a lot of conversations/writings about the surge of AI technology in today’s society.

Let it be noted right away that I’m not a fan of this technology. Yes, I have a bunch to learn about it, and my feelings are maybe a bit immature at this time. However, I’m a proponent of individual thinking based on primary research. That research and thinking connects each of us as a human being.

I believe AI, as neat as it can be, reduces our human connections. Rather than going into a library to dig through historic and current information (Yes, that can be done online, too). AI wants us to just type in a prompt and it will provide you with all you need to know. Going into a library, interacting with librarians, handling the collections (Yes, I am a library nerd!), and finding your needed information is who we are. We must not let go of our humanity.

I hosted a beer tasting event recently, and was so pleased the folks enjoyed the many different brews we tasted. But what really appealed to me was all the laughter. Laughter is a common human trait. We must not let go of it.

Attending a history center program focused on the history of the state’s Dakota Native Americans, it was satisfying to listen to the presenter relate his relatives experiences as they interacted with white pioneers, and later, with politicians who slowly stripped away the ancestral grounds of the Dakota people. He didn’t white wash the stories. Yes, there were “stinkers” on both sides, but overall the diaspora of the native population is a sad chapter in our state’s history. We must not let go of the history, and hopefully, learn something from it.

Don’t let go of your favorite beverage. For all you who are fans of a sweet red wine, I recommend Menage à Trois Sweet Red Blend Dolche. It’s fizzy, full of cherry and vanilla flavors and lingers with you at the finish. An interesting wine.

Referencing back to that Dakota program, the sacred connection between the Dakota and nature is remarkable. I believe we can all learn something from that relationship. The earth gives us the opportunity to grow and nourish ourselves. It only asks for respect in return. We must not let go of our respect for Mother Earth.

Let us not forget that now is the time to learn from history. Time is fleeting and there will come a time to let go of everything. Therefore, let’s make the most of our time here.

May you never let go of whatever gives you serenity.

As always, eat and drink in moderation, but laugh with reckless abandon!

Cheers!
