It’s difficult

Please excuse me for being a downer, but in today’s world, it’s difficult to stay upbeat and positive.

Why is it hard to see the light today? Well, let me list a couple of downers, and, then, finish with some uppers.

Within the least few days, the happenings in our country scare the heck out of me. As a nation founded on the rule of law and democratic values, how did we become a nation similar to other non-democratic countries? How can we not respect territorial integrity? The short term and the long term repercussions of what’s happened will be felt by everyone, and the respect our country had earned and lived will be gone.

Many of our fellow citizens will soon be negatively impacted by the crisis within our healthcare system. In all good conscience, how can we take away healthcare for folks and allow certain corporations to take advantage of us with outrageously overpriced medications?

We need to stop lying to ourselves for political reasons. Our country has had this type of posturing for a long time. When will we realize it’s better to put people before politics?

Okay, enough with that thinking. Let’s discuss some ways we can come together in solidarity and respect.

Perhaps a good starting point would be to stop too much communicating by devices and actually converse face to face. A lot of research has been done proving that staying personally connected is an essential for good mental well being. Take a walk with someone, have a glass of wine with someone, have lunch with someone and the positiveness will shine.

When’s the last time you attended a fun event? If not recently, try going to a fun play, see a silly movie read a few cartoons or do whatever will light your smile.

Listening to one’s favorite music is very good for everyone. Set aside sometime and listen to that happy music-you’ll find relief.

Of course, listening to your fav music goes well with your fav wine. The two ‘flavors’ blend together and will lighten your day. May I recommend a bottle of Electric Bee Primitivo? Believe it or not, I was given a bottle because my grand daughter said I should have it. She liked the bright bee on the label, and thought I would like it, too.

See, you never know where or when that bit of light will appear.

As we become more active, we’ll succeed in re-establishing our cherished country’s values. We will come together for us.

May you find a way to shed the difficulties and find the joys of life.

As always, eat and drink in moderation but laugh with reckless abandon!

Cheers!
